Life Story for Daniel Karlok

Daniel Karlok
Niskayuna ~ Dan J. Karlok, "Boris", 52, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born in Derby, CT, son of John and Gloria Lawrence Karlok.
He earned his Associate Degree in Forestry from Paul Smith's College and his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Daniel Webster College.
For the past 23 years Dan was a respected employee with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a Hydrographic Surveyor. Dan's hard work and dedication to provide for his family was a labor of love.
Family was Dan's most important pastime. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed biking, skiing, kayaking, camping, and snowshoeing with his family. He especially enjoyed hiking with his canine companion Marco Polo.
Dan enjoyed playing hockey, basketball, watching the N.Y. Giants, Yankees, Boston Bruins, and NASCAR with his friends, family, and especially his best friend and brother Christopher.
One thing many did not know about Dan is that he loved to dance and had wonderful rhythm. Dan was a special guy with an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. His love and presence will be truly missed, especially by his family and his dog.
Survivors include his cherished wife of 22 years, Kathryn Schumann-Karlok; loving children, Dylan Karlok and Kevin Karlok; his parents, John and Gloria Karlok; his brother Christopher Karlok; niece Halley Karlok; his mother-in-law Nancy Schumann (predeceased by father-in-law Douglas Schumann); brother-in-law Jeffrey(Elizabeth) Schumann; and his beloved canine companion Marco Polo. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Dan also leaves behind many special memories and friendships from his workplaces.
The family would like to extend a special thank you and gratitude to the nursing staff, doctors, Chaplains, and caregivers at Ellis Hospital for their unending care and compassion for Dan and his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 16 at 10a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, Rosa Road Campus, 2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Ferrari Funeral Home, 1503 Union Street(at McClellan St. in Jones Funeral Home), on Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m.
